Today Seth passed away. 8/20/14 – 4/23/16
Editor's note, August 24, 2026: I was in so much pain when I wrote this, and I wanted people to understand how badly I hurt. It still hurts to think about, and I miss my son so much. I will never understand God's plan or why He did not let me keep Seth. I want him here so badly.
Seth was amazing. I am deeply grateful for the final seven months we spent together in the hospital. We grew close, and I was able to spend every day with him. I especially want to thank Red Hat and my manager at the time, Todd Pfrommer, for their generosity and for allowing me to focus on Seth. Everyone at Red Hat treated me wonderfully during that time and afterward.
Even today, this is the post I return to most often on this website. Seth's birthday, August 20, 2014, and the day he died, April 23, 2016, are deeply important to Leah and me. Those days are hard, and we miss him greatly. We love talking about Seth and sharing his story. Please feel free to talk with us about him. It would make us happy.
Cora Beth, Deacon, and Ezekiel bring us so much joy. We wish they could have known Seth personally. Today is Deacon's seventh birthday, and I hope he has a wonderful day.
